Forest Tiny Folk and the Big Bear

Short Fairy tale for kids forest tiny people and bear

One sunny morning, when the sun was playing in the trees and juicy blueberries were all wet with morning dew, little Pip woke up thinking:

“My tummy is hungry!” And when Pip is hungry, it means one thing – time for yummy food! “Grandpa Whispy! Berry! Tiny Fern! Let’s go get blueberries!” he yelled happily.

Grandpa Whispy fixed his long white beard, Berry took his big basket, and Tiny Fern put on her apron to keep her dress clean.

Pip took a spoon. “Why did you bring a spoon?” asked Tiny Fern. “So I can eat right away, silly!” Pip smiled big. They got to the blueberry patch and started picking right away. Everyone was working hard, but Pip was eating more than picking.

Suddenly Berry pointed at something big, fuzzy and brown. “Look! That mossy thing wasn’t there before!” he whispered. “Oh my twigs and leaves, it’s huge!” said Grandpa Whispy. Tiny Fern put her hands on her hips. “What if it’s treasure?”

“I’ll go check!” said Pip and poked it with a stick. Then the bundle moved. And opened its eyes. “GRRRROWL!” The tiny folk jumped! A bear! And the bear? He jumped too! “EEEK! What are you?” he squeaked and hid behind a tree.

Berry’s eyes got big. The bear was scared of them?! “Well… this could be fun!” whispered Grandpa Whispy with a smile.
Grandpa Whispy put his hands on his hips and walked to the bear. “Listen here, bear! We’re not just any tiny folk! We’re mighty wizards!”

“And we can do scary spells!” added Berry. The bear peeked out. “Really?” Pip puffed up his chest. “Yeah! We could turn you into… a frog!” The bear looked worried. “Um… I don’t want that.” Tiny Fern tried to look serious. “Then watch our magic power!” The tiny folk made a circle, held hands, and started their spell. “Hokus, pokus, forest fokus!” they chanted. And then… WHOOSH!

The wind came up. SWISH! All the blueberries flew into the air. SPLAT

They landed right on Pip. There he stood, all purple from blueberries, blinking. The bear looked… and started laughing. “So… you can’t do magic at all!” he giggled. Grandpa Whispy rubbed his beard thoughtfully. “Well… maybe we got the spell wrong.” Berry shrugged. “Okay, fine. Maybe we’re not wizards…” Pip wiped his face. “But we’re the best bakers!”

The Blueberry Feast Tiny Fern smiled. “Before we mess up anything else, I’ll bake a pie!” So the tiny folk and the bear picked blueberries together. Tiny Fern made the dough, Grandpa Whispy got the oven ready, and Berry helped with mixing. The bear helped too – mostly by tasting everything! When the pie was ready, they all sat around and started eating. “So you’re not scary tiny folk…” mumbled the bear with his mouth full. “Nope!” smiled Berry. “We’re yummy tiny folk!” The bear smiled back. “Then I’ll be a yummy bear!” From that day on, the bear and the tiny folk had many fun picnics together. They shared yummy pies, played games, and became the best of friends!
